The Tigers U12s faced a year-older team in their first game of the season and it was a significant difference in terms of both physical and mental prowess.

We held our own for 20 minutes but then conceded two goals within half-time. Despite this setback, my boys showed incredible determination and fought valiantly.

Levi and Jacob’s pace on the wings caught the older boys off guard, and our defence held firm, preventing further goals. Bobby Dunmore made several impressive tackles to stop the attack, and Oliver in goal made some of the most impressive saves for a 10-year-old I’ve ever seen.

We managed to equalise just after the start of the second half with a great through ball to Bobby Brewer.

However, the step-up in pitch size and physical strength from the Rochester Utd players proved too much, and we conceded three more goals.

The final score didn’t reflect the performance of the Tigers. Every boy played their part, and this will be the biggest challenge they’ve faced this season.

If the boys maintain this level of football, the wins will come.
