Perfect football weather at 18 degrees, sunny and clear, set the stage for a brilliant, hard‑fought game between the Pumas and Lordswood Youth earlier today.
The first half was tight and evenly balanced. Both teams created chances but neither could break the deadlock. Charlie and Nataniel kept things solid at the back, reading danger early and dealing with everything that came their way. Lordswood looked to play out from the back, and they were physical all over the pitch, which made it a proper, competitive contest.
Much of the game was played in the middle third, with both sides passing the ball well and moving it quickly. There was a lovely moment from Toby, who produced a clever flick and burst down the left — he was full of energy today and didn’t stop running. Chester also saw lots of the ball on the right, getting stuck into his battles and creating a few chances. Connor and Toby rotated positions smartly, keeping Lordswood guessing.
The breakthrough came for the Pumas early in the second half: Chester chased a long ball over the defence, beat the keeper to it, and slid it home — the ball just crossing the line. A proper attacker’s finish and great determination to get there first.
Lordswood responded a few minutes later; a shot across the goal hit the post and fell kindly for them to tap in the rebound. The game continued in the same competitive, energetic manner, with good football played by both sides right through to the end.
After the match, Coach Dean praised the boys for their effort and passing, especially on a hard ground, but highlighted the need to keep improving decision‑making in key moments.
