Real 60 FC U11s Pumas arrived at Sherwood Cricket Club in high spirits following a good training session the day before. However, the team faced an immediate setback during the warm-up when goalkeeper Jayden unfortunately suffered a hamstring injury.
The chilly morning seemed to impact the Pumas’ early rhythm. The opening period proved challenging as the boys struggled to establish their usual passing game against a resolute Woodpecker side, heading into the break behind but determined to face that challenge.
Following a motivating halftime talk from Manager Dean Nash, the Pumas emerged for the second half looking rejuvenated. With Charlie stepping into the goalkeeper role and performing admirably under pressure, the team began to dictate play. The breakthrough came via a slick team move; a pinpoint pass sliced through the defence, allowing Louie to clinically fire into the bottom corner.
That goal ignited a dominant final 15 minutes, with the Pumas creating wave after wave of chances. Special mention goes to Dezzy, who anchored the backline expertly in Nataniel’s absence, delivering his strongest performance yet in the Real 60 FC colours. While the early deficit was steep, the character shown to dominate the closing stages was a testament to the team’s growth.
