Played at the Kings Farm Playing Field, Gravesend – 9:30am kick‑off.
A crisp 12‑degree morning set the scene for a proper grassroots fixture. Both teams went through their warm‑ups as parents took their positions around the pitch. Conditions were steady and the surface played true.
From the outset, it was a competitive, well‑contested game. Gravesham Borough, a long‑established A‑Division side who also compete in the JPL, showed the level and organisation they’re known for. The Pumas approached the challenge with discipline and intent.
The first half featured controlled passages of play from both sides, with the ball being moved across the pitch intelligently. Gravesham’s main threat came through central areas, where their centre‑backs stepped forward aggressively to create overloads. The Pumas worked hard in the duels, battled for second balls, and stayed switched on. The Pumas goalkeeper Jayden produced several composed stops, and the midfield linked up neatly with sharp one‑twos, stretching the game in moments that clearly reflected recent training work.
The second half continued in the same pattern: organised shape, strong work rate, and a few well‑constructed chances created by the Pumas. Gravesham enjoyed spells of possession, but the boys stayed committed, disciplined, and competitive throughout. Considering the calibre of the opposition, it was a solid, structured performance that showed maturity and development.
Coach Dean praised the team for keeping their shape throughout and said it was arguably their best performance of the season, especially given the quality and organisation of the opponent.
And hey, at least the coffee stand beside the pitch was decent, which is sometimes the only thing keeping parents alive at a 9:30am Sunday kick‑off.
⭐ Supporters’ Player of the Match – Nataniel
Brave, committed, and relentless with his blocks and interceptions. Despite not feeling well the day before, he delivered a strong shift and even tested the keeper with a couple of long‑range efforts he’s been working on.
⭐ Manager’s Player of the Match – Char
Calm, reliable, and vocal from the back. A standout first half, strong positioning, and leadership in key moments from the Birthday boy.
