The Lions traveled to Woodpecker on the final day of 2025 with one objective: to end the year on a high. What followed was a devastating attacking masterclass that showcased everything this talented young squad is capable of.
The Lions wasted no time asserting their dominance. Within just one minute of kick-off, Real 60 had found the back of the net. Some lovely football down the right flank created the opening, and when Logan’s shot was parried by the Woodpecker goalkeeper, Bobby was perfectly positioned at the back post to finish confidently with his left foot. 1-0 and the perfect start.
The floodgates had opened. Just three minutes later, it was 2-0. Damarae launched one of his trademark long throws into the danger area, Logan provided the crucial flick-on, and once again Bobby was in the right place at the right time to finish into the bottom right corner.
Two minutes after that, Bobby completed a remarkable six-minute hat-trick. Jake’s intelligent work in midfield carved open the Woodpecker defense with a perfectly weighted through ball. Bobby showed excellent composure under pressure, meeting the pass and smashing it with his left foot into the roof of the net. A clinical finish from a clinical striker - 3-0 and Woodpecker were reeling.
The Lions showed no signs of letting up. Three minutes later, the scoreline read 4-0, though this time the goal came in fortunate circumstances. A mix-up between the Woodpecker defender and goalkeeper resulted in an own goal as the defender inadvertently put the ball over his own keeper and into the net.
On the half-hour mark, Jake got himself on the scoresheet with a well-taken goal. Showing the quality throughout this Real 60 squad, he finished smartly with his left foot into the bottom corner to make it 5-0. The Lions went into the halftime break with a commanding lead, having put on an absolute clinic of attacking football.
If Woodpecker hoped the break would stem the tide, they were quickly disappointed. Just five minutes into the second half, Real 60 extended their advantage to six goals. Harry Taylor delivered an inch-perfect long through ball over the top of the Woodpecker defense, finding Damarae’s run to perfection. One-on-one with the goalkeeper, Damarae kept his cool and finished with composure.
With the game well beyond doubt, Woodpecker managed to pull back a consolation goal with ten minutes remaining, giving their supporters something to cheer about on a difficult afternoon for the home side.
But the Lions weren’t finished yet. Straight from the kick-off after Woodpecker’s goal, Logan played the ball back to Luca in the defensive third. In a moment of audacious brilliance, Luca spotted the Woodpecker goalkeeper off his line and launched an ambitious effort from inside his own half. The ball sailed through the air, bounced perfectly, and somehow managed to bounce over the stranded keeper and into the net. An incredible finish to cap an incredible performance - 7-1
Man of the Match
In a game full of standout performances, the Man of the Match award went to Luca for an outstanding display in an unfamiliar right-back position. Asked to fill in defensively, Luca was solid throughout, defending his area brilliantly and showing real composure when playing out from the back. His spectacular goal from his own half was the icing on the cake of a complete performance that demonstrated his versatility and quality.
What a way to finish 2025! Real 60 Lions sign off the year with a dominant seven-goal display that showcased their attacking prowess, clinical finishing, and never-say-die attitude. Bobby’s first-half hat-trick, Jake’s quality finish, Damarae’s composure, and Luca’s magic all contributed to a memorable afternoon.
