Leopards Snatch Late Winner

Ben Bradley6 Apr - 16:41

u18s Leopards 1-0 Meopham Colts Red

The Leopards returned home to Borstal for the first time since January, as they welcomed Meopham Reds for the last time.

The hosts were without Joe & Callum, while Zach & Joseph returned to the squad.

The Leopards started strongly and tested the keeper early on as David flicked on Josh’s throw, to Luke who flicked it on again, to Paul who hit a powerful half volley from around 10 yards which the keeper saved.

Meopham had a couple of opportunities on the break, but the back 3 of Josh, Peter, Brick & Joseph were defending strongly.

The hosts had a great chance to open the scoring as Jack played David in behind, his effort was parried by the keeper and his rebound effort hit the keepers legs.

Into the Second Half and the Leopards were asked to lift their performance another level or two.

And they thought they had broken the deadlock as Benni burst through and slotted past the keeper but was adjudged to have fouled the defender.

The midfield of Connor, Ben, Zach & David were working hard to win their individual battles.

Tommy then came to the Leopards rescue with an excellent double save, first palming away a close range header before getting up to block the follow up from a tight angle.

The Leopards had a chance late on, as Benni found Paul who played Phillip in on goal, he cut in before drilling inches wide of the far post.

Then in Injury Time, the Leopards got their goal as Brick’s humungous throw into the box deflected off a Meopham defender and looped into the net.

Parents Player: Josh;
Coaches Player: Joseph.

Coaches Thoughts
Good battling performance from the boys, to get back to winning ways today.
Not the most fluid performance on a bobbly pitch, but they kept going to get the winner in injury time.
Big 3 points ahead of our top of the table clash next week!
