
Real 60 u16s Panthers produced an outstanding tournament display to lift the Castle Colts Tournament trophy after an unbeaten run and two dramatic penalty shootout victories in the knockout stages.
The team made a strong start in the group phase, collecting 11 points from a possible 12 in a five-team group. Three wins and a hard-fought draw saw Real 60 finish comfortably at the top of the table, three points clear of their nearest rivals.
In the semi-final, the Panthers faced Castle Colts Reds, a side they had defeated 4-0 during the group stage. However, this encounter proved to be a much sterner test. After falling 1-0 behind midway through the match, 60 showed tremendous character and resilience to find a late equaliser and force a penalty shootout. The team kept their composure from the spot, with all three penalty takers converting, while the Panthers goalkeeper produced a crucial save to secure a place in the final.
The final against Sittingbourne Youth Reds saw 60 take control from the outset. Dominating possession and creating numerous chances, they were unfortunate not to settle the contest in normal time, striking the post on several occasions. Despite their superiority, the match remained goalless and was once again decided by penalties.
The Panthers held their nerve in the shootout, with four players successfully converting from the spot. Their keeper once again proved the hero, making another decisive save to clinch victory and seal the tournament title.
An unbeaten campaign, incredible determination, and back-to-back penalty shootout successes saw the Panthers deservedly crowned Castle Colts Tournament Champions.
