Xmas do - the match report |
| Date: 24/12/07 |
A misty day in Medway welcomed the men's xmas do for 2007. Myself and Woody arrived in the White Horse around 1230. We was welcomed by an empty pub except Branton Jnr and Snr, Ellery, Miller and Streety.
The cobwebs were blown from Arthur's wallet as a juicy £20 was released for myself and Woody to purchase refreshments. Unfortunately, our arrival conincided with my parents, the agates and Piercey and Billy Green. Arthur spent his 67p change wisely.
Others also arrived including Warner, Stockbridge, Lavender, Donovan and Coomber. Gav Stewart arrived wearing his best scarf and school blazer. He looked very prefect-like. I say, well done old chap.
Others also joined including the lovely Mrs Branton, Nick White (u10s) and Mrs White and family and Glen Bowie (u16s). Thank you to Glen for purchasing a round of drinks. Apparently though, according to Streety, he's loaded so he can get them in at the next meeting too!
We headed down to Roch about 2-230ish with a convoy of me and Warner. I did 2 stops and we caught the arrival of Scott Ashford just before we left. He's been at Charlie Chalk's Factory so was running late. In the Crown a few more beers were had and Woody took great pleasure in beating each one of the boys at Pool. Closest to victory were Pierce and Donovan but no joy. Rudland too had turned up at this point and wanted all on the hard-stuff......that's right, Corkys.
When Chelsea came on we left cause they're C**P. We moved to the City Wall. By this stage only Wood, Coomber, Rudland, Branton, Lavender, Donovan and Reynolds remained. Woody junior had also joined us and was causing havoc. Shots were bought and a few started to struggle. Rudland at this point started to declare his "favoured" line-up. It was a 4-5-1 with him up top only. Hmmmm. ;-)
Myself and Branton then departed. My sources tell me that Rudland got a bit "hairy" (see the pun there!) in the next pub over a JD or something. And the last to remain where Wood and Street. Woody's mrs a close third.
So ratings for the day are:-
Branton 8, Lavender 8, Coomber 8, Wood 9 & MOM, Street 8, Rudland 4, Reynolds 7, Donovan 8, Stockbridge 7, Miller 6, Stewart 7, Warner 6, Pierce 7, Green 7, Ashford 6.
Please note:- Rudland downgraded due to his behaviour, Miller for that "smart" tracksuit, Warner for driving and not being ill. Stewart upgraded due to his smartness.
Disappointments to Coney (mum don't let him out), Uden (no grandma bonus) and Bland (prob rolling around with the manager's daughter) for their no-shows. Poor team-morale marks.

2006/07 Presentation Night awards |
| Date: 01/10/07 |
PLAYERS' PLAYER OF THE YEAR
This year's award goes to a player who has shown great commitment to not only the team, but also the club cause.
Even in the face of adversity this player will only ever see the positive side of things and encourage his team-mates,even if he only scores own goals!
Juggling both the responsibility as a player AND a manager is never an easy task but he has done it fantastically well in his first season.
This year's players' player of the year goes to MARK WOOD.
MANAGER'S PLAYER OF THE YEAR
It's hard when you have a season like ours to keep on playing to the best of your ability, heads and morale both drop very quickly, so when a player manages to keep playing consistently at the top of his game he deserves praise. Unfortunately this player will be hanging up his boots for the last time, many thanks for the years of awesome goalkeeping. Manager's Player is DANNY "THE CAT" COOMBER.
LOYALTY AWARD
Loyalty is not an easy thing to grade, be it turning out for every game, injured or not, recruiting new players when the team falls short, or even just turning up to most training sessions. When dealing with senior players it is harder to find such players as family & work commitments take over, one player this season has gone above and beyond the call - even turning up after having a major car crash at 6am! All this with his wife ready to drop and a team that most of the time didn't have 11 players. This year's loyalty award goes to ROSS "THE TANK" MARTIN.
SPORTSMAN AWARD
This year's Sportsman was easy to pick, the most sporting player within the team, this model wannabe hasn't picked up a card all season!! Always conducting himself well on & off the pitch and also has a wealthy father who has paid me to give his lad a trophy. Without this player the season wouldn't have happened, many thanks pal, this year's Sportsman goes to PHILLIP "TANGERINE CANDY-FLOSS BEANHEAD" REYNOLDS THE 2nd.
